Image to Image: Writing in Response to Visual Art

Posted on by Dodge Poetry

This fall, we are inviting New Jersey teachers to join us among one of New Jersey’s most engaging art collections—Grounds for Sculpture, Montclair Art Museum, Newark Museum, Noyes Museum—to take in whatever touches, amuses, delights or speaks to each participant.  There will be time to linger among the exhibits, meditate, savor, and respond.

Led by accomplished Dodge Poets, Image to Image is designed to feed and refresh creativity. The conversation within each group, and the artwork encountered will invite each teacher to doodle, journal, sketch, or draft poems or other writing.  A significant portion of the day will be self-guided, allowing each individual to explore the artwork and respond at his or her own pace.  Time will be set aside for sharing of experiences and  writing (if desired) with the rest of the group.

Working New Jersey teachers from all grade levels and subject areas are welcome to register.  NJ Professional Development hours will be awarded. Retired teachers may email poetryprogram@grdodge.org and be put on a waiting list.  In the event that there is space in a session, retired teachers will be invited to register.
